Who invented sticky notes7/21/2023 It bothers me from the time I know something needs to be done until I do it. If I have a thing to do I cant live with myself until that thing is completed and done. Sarhan: "What are your biggest strengths?"Īmron: "I'm a doer. Follow up with all disclosures with a email or letter for proof you disclosed it on such and such a date to whom and why." Document every meeting conversation and name names. Sarhan: "Please explain your strategy and why is it important?"Īmron: "If you invent or create something new and don't tell anyone about it out of fear of them stealing it you'll never get anywhere with it. Protect it by documenting your every move and disclosure." ![]() If you don't spread the word about your invention how will it get out there. Not telling anyone about their invention in fear of them stealing it. Sarhan: "What common mistakes do you see people make?"Īmron: "Not jumping in at all. And keep taking chances, thats how things get done." Sarhan: "What advice would you have given to yourself early in your career?"Īmron: "Don't just take any deal, be selective and treat each deal as the last one you will ever have. So I was working on an adhesive that would be tacky enough to be put on the back of a memo pad or piece of paper, that you could put it onto another piece of paper or to a refrigerator or a window or a door or something like that and reposition it." ![]() We didn’t have magnets in those days and I couldn’t use duct tape because it would have left a residue on the refrigerator. The adhesive had to be tacky enough to stick, repositionable enough to position it on a surface or a paper or a refrigerator. "She suggested and I agreed that it was a great product and I started to develop the adhesive for it. ![]() When I got home my wife was very impressed with the fact that I left her a note and the fact that the note was still on the refrigerator and then came right off without it leaving a residue mess when she took the note off." Then I put the note on it and I pulled it a little bit to see if it held and it held and I left. I put it in the little piece of gum and I mushed it around and squashed it right on the refrigerator. And I took a little piece of the gum out of my mouth and I kneaded it. While I was chewing I was thinking about the tackiness of the gum. And while my mind was working I was looking at the gum and not being able to find the Scotch tape, I took the gum, put a piece in my mouth and started chewing. But I looked around the house for Scotch tape and I couldn’t find it. I took a piece of - we called it memo paper in those days - and I wrote on the memo that I was going to a meeting that I’d be back later. That’s when you pop the popcorn and settle back to watch the train wreck that you know is headed their way.īut mistakes do lead to improvements and just as you (or I) made our mistakes, they make theirs, gain wisdom, and get ignored when they try to share, and life’s train wrecks move on."I had just gotten married in 1973 and my wife wasn’t home and I had to leave a message for her that I was running out to a meeting. Have you ever tried to share experiences and knowledge with a younger person? More often than not, they will reply that it was YOUR experience and won’t necessarily apply to their lives. It’s a shame older people can’t write down all the mistakes they’ve made and have younger people avoid their pitfalls. Now I no longer buy the pills, but get the liquid. I discovered that the liquid form is quicker acting on my stopped up lungs than the 12 hour pill form. but the exact subject was how not being able to find Mucinex Pills in a store led me to buy Children’s Liquid Mucinex, because I needed SOMETHING! and it was available. ![]() What I intended to write about is how mistakes can lead to better things. However sticky notes are a huge successs! Perhaps the title is misleading? I know the person who invented sticky notes was trying to make a permanent glue and was unsuccessful.
